12x12 Layout Happy Shine Bright
This layout just feels like happiness, doesn’t it? 😊
I love how this layout has that soft, pretty vibe going on, but still has lots of little details to keep your eye moving around the page. The photo really does all the talking here—it’s one of those moments you just have to scrapbook—and everything else is just gently supporting it.
It’s a great example of how layering doesn’t have to be complicated. A few papers, some die cuts, a couple of clusters—and suddenly it looks full and detailed without being busy.
It’s one of those layouts where you can tell it came together in a really natural, relaxed way… and honestly, those are always the best kind 💛
1. Layout Design:
Even though the photo has predominately pink, I used it sparingly along with other soft pastel papers such as greens, teals as my choice of papers and cardstock.
- Colour Palette: I went with a soft, layered design with a gentle mix of pastel colours—mint, lime green, blush pink, and soft neutrals—creating a light and uplifting feel. I've used quite a few different patterned papers, including the green polka dot piece that helps anchor the photo while still keeping things fresh and playful.
- Photo / Photo Matts: I used just one 6x4 photo which is anchored slightly to the left of the centre and framed with the elements. Generally, I like more than one photo on my layouts. The photo is matted on pale pink cardstock, adding definition and drawing your eye straight to the photo.
- Title: I used chipboard alpha letters. I could have inked them with a colour, and still might do so, but couldn't figure out what colour to choose so for now it's just plain. Let me know what colour, you think they could be?
- Journalling spots: I typed my journalling and printed it out on a die-cut. I also added the date to the right of the layout.
2. Techniques Used:
- Layered background: I created sections using different patterned papers—florals, textures, and subtle prints.
- Embellishments - The embellishments are clustered around the photo to create balance—particularly on the right-hand side with florals, a butterfly, and the “Shine Bright” die-cut. I layered labels, tabs, and small details like the arrow strip (beside the photo) and date tab help guide the eye across the page.
The mix of florals, butterflies, and birdcage elements creates a light, whimsical feel, perfectly complementing the photo. The title “Happy” and “Shine Bright” ties it all together, celebrating the special connection and those carefree, giggly moments worth remembering.
