DIY Silicone Embellishments - Ocean-Inspired Scrapbooking Layuouts

Hi there, fellow crafters! I’ve been up to something exciting in my craft room, and I couldn’t wait to share it with you. This week, I’ve been experimenting with clear silicone molds to create ocean-themed embellishments, and I’m so thrilled with how they turned out! 🌊

Playing with Silicone and Ocean Vibes

If you’ve never tried working with silicone moulds, I highly recommend giving it a go. I created these pretty ocean-inspired embellishments and added them to three 12x12 layouts featuring photos from our day trip to Kiama, specifically the stunning Bombo Headland. To add color to the silicone creations, I used Prima Sparks paints - they were the perfect choice. The subtle shimmer and rich pigments brought the embellishments to life, giving them a dreamy, sea-kissed look. 😍

A Stamperia Collection Finally Put to Use

For the layouts, I turned to a paper collection I’ve been holding onto for a while now: Stamperia’s Sea Dreams. I used the 8x8 paper pad and the chipboard sheet from the collection, and they complemented the oceanic theme beautifully.

Sometimes, it takes just the right photos to bring a collection to life, and that’s exactly what happened here. While scrolling through my phone, I came across pictures from our day trip to Bombo, near Kiama in NSW, and knew instantly that they’d be perfect for this project.

Exploring the Rugged Beauty of Bombo

If you’ve never been to Bombo Headland, it’s a must-see if you’re in the Kiama area. The rugged basalt column rock formations are unlike anything I’ve ever seen. It truly feels like stepping onto another planet. The scenery is breathtaking, and it’s a photographer’s dream, especially at sunrise when the light casts magical shadows across the rocks.

We were completely blown away by the dramatic landscape and spent hours exploring. The photos I used in my layouts capture just a fraction of the beauty and uniqueness of this incredible spot.

A Bit of History

While exploring, we passed the site of the old basalt mine, which holds a tragic history. In 1988, a premature explosion caused a rockfall, leading to the heartbreaking loss of four lives and injuries to others. It’s a sobering reminder of the risks people face in such industries.

Wrapping It Up

. If you’re looking for inspiration, I can’t recommend exploring unique locations like this enough—it’s amazing how a day out can spark so much creativity!
