Smash Your Goals for 2022
Smash Your Goals for 2022
Goal-setting is a popular topic of discussion at the start of any new year. With the New Year comes a renewed sense of passion to and purpose. We all the best intentions to succeed, However many of the goals we set at the start of the year end up fizzling out. Why is that? Nine times out of ten it’s because there’s no plan in place to achieve them. With 2021 upon us, I have put together a little guide to setting and smashing your goals.
Emotional Connection:
To learn something new, to change behavior or achieve a goal, weneed to recognise how we FEEL about it. We need to decide what we THINK and know, then we need to try and DO something differently.
To create true goal alignment you need to ask yourself the following questions.
How do I want to feel?
What do I need to do to achieve this feeling?
What goal will best serve me to achieve this feeling?
What action do you need to do now to make this goal come true?
When you have the answers to the above question, this then becomes your WHY. This is where your passion comes from! Think about how you want to FEEL.
If you don’t have an emotional connection with your goal then you will feel unmotivated and you will most likely give up. Use the feeling words in the guide to help you or choose some of your own.
Mental Connection:
This is where you plan out how you are going to achieve your goal and reach your desired feeling. Think about the best goal to achieve to give you that feeling. The goal needs to be specific and tangible. Break the goal down into management tasks over a specified period.
Physical Connection:
This is about making it happen and taking action. What you do today will take you one step closer to achieving your goals. Remember it is not about intention but implementation. Taking small steps will move you towards your goals.
Accountability Partner:
An accountability partner is like a partnership where you mutually agree to coach each other and provide feedback on a regular basis. If you have an accountability partner, you usually get more personalised help with your goals because the other person is focused on your success.Having a good accountability partner can help you make serious progress toward any of your goals.
