DIY Stamp Cleaning Recipe

DIY Stamp Cleaning Recipe

We all love creating and using our stamps in our projects, whether we are card makers, scrapbookers, into art journalling, or planning, we all just love them.
The thing is, we invest money into these products and so it's important to care for them the best way we can. Cleaning stamps after each use ensures that they will continue to make crisp clear images every time. Plus if you're like me, you just like to clean your stuff as it makes you feel so much better!!

I  recently came across this recipe on how to make your own glycerin stamp cleaner and thought I would share it in a Blog Post.

I've already talked about the different ways to Clean your stamps, in this Blog Post. There are also some great products on the market that can also help you to clean your stamps, however, did you know you can actually make your own stamp cleaning solution, which is easy and inexpensive, plus it's environmentally friendly.

Some types of inks, such as archival or Stazon, don't wash off as easily as some of the other inks around and I am often frustrated with the remaining inks on my stamps!  So I had a hunt around for a stamp cleaning recipe and thought I would share it here on the Blog.

Glycerine Stamp Cleaner Recipe

A well as using as a cleaner, glycerin conditions the rubber and keeps it pliable. It is an ingredient in many commercial stamp cleaners. Look for glycerin at your chemist or supermarket. It is sold in small 4- to 6-oz. bottles.

To make the rubber stamp cleaner, follow the instructions below:

RECIPE

2 tbsp glycerin,
1 cup distilled water,
1 tsp of baby wash (or detergent will work too)

INSTRUCTIONS

Combine and pour the solution into a small spray bottle and spritz the rubber portion of your stamp. Use a paper towel to remove any ink that doesn't immediately wash away. Rinse the stamp with clean, cool water and allow it to completely dry.

I hope you found this Blog Post helpful and give this recipe a try. You will find that no only your stamps will be cleaner, but the image definition will be much better.
Do you have your own stamp cleaning recipe? Share it in the comments, I would love to know!
