Alphabet Stickers - Way to Use Them Up!
Creative Ways to Use Up Those Leftover Alphabet Stickers
Today we’re going to explore a few ways to get those stickers used up so you can make room for more exciting and interesting things.
Organise and Save the Extras:
Create a dedicated storage system for your leftover letters. You can use small containers or Ziploc bags to sort and store them. By doing this, you can easily access them when needed in the future.
Stuck for words? Use programs such as Anagram Solver – Crosswords or Word Solver , enter the letters and it will come up with some words. Not every word will be usable of course, but you choose words that you think you might use in your projects. For example: I enter in the letters m,o,o,,i,s,t,h,z,u and the words that popped up are ith leftover stickers using an app such as the following apps
Combine Similar Fonts and Colors:
Got several sheets of alphabet stickers hanging around that look kind of similar? Why not combine them and use them on one scrapbooking layout? By pooling them together, you’ll instantly expand your letter options — giving you more flexibility when spelling out titles, quotes, or fun phrases without being stuck when you run out of vowels.
Mixing sheets with complementary fonts or colour palettes not only helps you use up those odd leftovers, but also creates a quirky, mixed-media look that’s totally on trend. Think of it like building your own custom alphabet soup — but make it crafty!
Make It Work with “Missing” Letters — Get Crafty with Substitutes!
Get creative and play letter-swap detective. You’d be surprised how often other letters or symbols can stand in and still look totally cute (or even better than the original!). For instance:
- Use a lowercase “l” or capital “I” as a stand-in for the number “1”
- Flip a “3” to look like a backwards “E”
- Turn a “U” upside down to mimic an “n”
- Use a heart, star, or flower sticker as a letter “O” — super cute for titles like L♡VE or H✿ME
And if nothing quite fits, don’t be afraid to DIY your own letter! Layer some washi, doodle one by hand, or cut a piece from patterned paper that matches the style.
These little creative fixes not only save your project, they often end up being the most fun and unique part of the whole layout!
Donate or Repurpose Your Alphabet Stickers for Kids’ Activities & Classrooms
If you’ve got a pile of leftover alphabet stickers that no longer spark joy in your craft room, don’t toss them — pass that creative magic on! Alphabet stickers are perfect for kids’ learning and playtime activities. Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, teacher, or know someone who works with children, these little letters can be a big hit in educational settings.
Here are some fun and purposeful ways to use them:
- Spelling Practice & Word Games – Kids can build words on paper, flashcards, or even magnetic boards. It’s a hands-on, fun way to reinforce phonics and spelling without relying on worksheets.
- Alphabet Sorting – Mix up the letters and let little ones sort by color, size, or letter. Great for early literacy and fine motor skills!
- Craft Time with a Twist – Let kids decorate their own name tags, journal covers, or art projects using your leftover letter stash.
- Interactive Bulletin Boards – Teachers can use them for classroom displays, reward charts, or word walls.
Use Alphabet Stickers for School-Themed Layouts.
Alphabet stickers are perfect for school scrapbooking pages — especially those bright, fun, slightly mismatched ones you’re not sure what to do with. One of my favourite tricks is to frame a school-themed layout with a border of mixed-up letters — different fonts, colours, and sizes all jumbled together. It gives such a playful, energetic feel that’s ideal for a first day of school page! Plus, it adds movement and texture around the edge without taking attention away from the star of the show — your little one’s photo (with their oversized backpack and cheeky smile, of course! 📚✨).

Use Up Stickers in a “No Rules” Junk or Art Journal
If you’ve just started a junk journal or art journal — woohoo! That’s the perfect home for all those oddball supplies that don’t quite "fit" anywhere else. I absolutely love using up leftover alphabet stickers in mine — especially the random letters, weird colours, or half-used sheets that I know I won’t use in a formal layout.
There’s something so freeing about creating just for the sake of it — no pressure to make it perfect, pretty, or matchy-matchy. I let the stickers land wherever they like: in backgrounds, under paint, in borders, or randomly spelling out words that don’t even make sense. It’s more about texture, colour, and pure creative joy. Honestly, it feels like a little rebellion from “perfect pages,” and I highly recommend giving it a go. 🎨✨
Cut Up Letters for Funky Borders & Backgrounds.
Here’s a cheeky little trick — when the font or colour of certain letter stickers just doesn’t work for your project, cut them up! Yep, chop ‘em into strips, blocks, or odd shapes so they’re no longer obviously letters. Once they’re disguised, they become cool design elements you can use to build layered borders, funky backgrounds, or even mosaic-style textures.
This works especially well with bold or patterned fonts — the kind you might avoid on a title but that look super cool in small pieces. It’s also a great way to use up all those letters you’d usually skip over.
Add a little ink around the edges or distress them for a more grungy, collage look. So satisfying — and it means nothing goes to waste!
Til next time, happy crafting and gardening,
Julie
