Stashdown Mondays - Using up Your Old Alphabet Stickers

I'm kicking off a new monthly blog post that will provide some unique inspiration on how to use up your stash. Stash Down Monday happens on the first Monday of every month here at Scrap of Your Life. It’s a day I set aside to share some projects with you that feature ways to reuse and re-purpose some things you may have in your stash.

This month the focus is on letter stickers. Whether you’re a scrapbooker or a card maker you most likely have a few packages of letter stickers in your arsenal. And, if you’re like me, you probably have a few packages that have been mostly used up except for a few odd letters that you can’t use to spell out anything. Or, if you’re like me, you might have a few packages from years ago that have somehow managed to avoid the purge.

Today we’re going to explore a few ways to get those stickers used up so you can make room for more exciting and interesting things.

Organise and Save the Extras: Create a dedicated storage system for your leftover letters. You can use small containers or Ziploc bags to sort and store them. By doing this, you can easily access them when needed in the future.

Combine Similar Fonts and Colors:
If you have multiple sticker sheets with similar fonts or colors, try combining them to create a larger pool of letters to choose from.

Use a Die Cutting Machine:
If you have access to a die cutting machine, you can cut letters from various materials like paper, cardstock, or vinyl. This way, you can have complete control over the letters you need.

Get Creative:
with "Missing" Letters: Sometimes, you can get creative and use alternative letters or symbols to substitute for the ones you're missing. For example, you can use a lowercase "L" as the number "1" or create your own letter using decorative elements.

Donate them:
For classroom or Kids' Activities: If you're a teacher or have kids, use the stickers for educational purposes. They can be used for spelling games, interactive displays, or learning activities.

t I have also made school pages with them. I have surrounded the page with various letters of various colors and fonts. It makes a great 1st day of school.

just started a junk/art journal. In there i use all the stickers/paper and other stuff that i dont want/need in my journal. Its very liberating to just be creative without it having to be functional or pretty.

Depends on the font/colour, but sometimes I cut them up so they aren't easily recognisable as letters any more and then make little borders with them.

I used what I had left in the Autumn themed letter sticker sheet (upper and lower case) to make up the word 'Greenwich' as a title for this layout.

Mixing different types of letters and embellishments in your title is a fantastic idea! It not only allows you to create a more visually interesting and unique title but also helps you overcome the limitation of not having enough letters of a complete set. Using tiny Scrabble-like tiles, stickers, and chipboard letters together can added some depth, texture, and dimension to this layout below:

Til next time, happy crafting and gardening,
