Scrapbook Layout Idea - Shrek and Universal Studios

Shrek Scrapbook Layout - Using Old Rub ons

I have made a pact with myself this month to really focus on journalling and finishing of layouts that just need a final touch or two, and a few words to tell the story, After all, that is an important part of memory keeping.

The first layout I tackled was one of the layouts from our US trip album. We were at Universal Studios and having a fantastic time.

Picture this: A photo of Ian and myself with none other than Shrek, Shrek and Princess Fiona, But what's a Shrek adventure without Donkey, the motor-mouthed, fast-talking sidekick? My scrapbook layout wouldn't be complete without a photo of 'Donkey' looking as shocked as a donkey can look when stuck within his horse stall and not being able to bounce around like the Donkey we know.  (This photo actually reminds me of Mr. Ed the talking horse).

In my layout, I've arranged two of the photos. Shrek's green complexion contrasts beautifully with the earthy tones of my chosen background paper, of Kraft Cardstock, and a combination of greens and oranges.

I used the Memory Box Large Ringlet Die. I don't believe its available anymore, however, you could certainly find something similar in the Silhouette Studio Library if you own a Cameo Die Cutting Machine.

To finish the layout off I added  Chipboard pieces from the Simple Stories Hello Fall collection and some old HOTP rub-ons into the centre of some of the circles of the ringlet die cut. I finished the area off by adding a few small brads on top of the rubons.

If you have old rubons lying around and want to use them up. Then just add them to a layout. It can add extra dimension, fun, and interest. Not to mention the pops of colour. Of course, it also depends on the type of rub-ons you are using.

One last tip - Don't be afraid if they don't rub on perfectly as sometimes it adds to the charm of the layout.

Now I really should have taken a before and after shot (unfortunately, I forgot). Something to note for next time.
