National Sticker Day

Did you know today is National Sticker Day on 13 January 2022.. I know its more of an American National Day. However considering we are avid users of stickers in many of our projects, I thought we could celebrate this day in honour of the sticker.!!

Sticker Day is a day to celebrate all things stickers, from the custom made to the everyday label. Every sticker has a story. They can be used for decoration or information depending on the situation. They can come in many different shapes, sizes and colours and can be used on a variety of things for example lunch boxes, in paper planners, lockers or notebooks.

European merchants in the 1880’s were some of the first to stick labels to their products, in an effort to promote their goods and wares to passers by. Using gum paste to get the labels to adhere and stick: hence “stickers.” By the 1900’s a sticker-specific paste had been developed and was widely used, most notably on stamps, which dried and then would re-apply when moistened.

Sticker Day is held in honour of R. Stanton Avery, who was born on that this in 1907. R. Stanton Avery, a rags-to-riches entrepreneur who created the first commercially feasible self-sticking, peel-off labels and founded what is now Avery Dennison Corp. to manufacture and market them worldwide.

How to take part in #NationalStickerDay

Post in our Facebook Page using #NationalStickerDay by:

1. Make some special stickers and share them in the facebook group.

2. Share your favorite project using stickers. It can be a mixed media project, scrapbook layout or planner page etc. 

3. Reward someone with a unique sticker. It could be your mum, brother, son etc Make a sticker in one of you favourite apps and tag them in a post on Social Media.
